As a professional makeup artist and hairstylist I see plenty of beautiful, happy brides and I would like to keep it that way. So consider this article my gift to you engaged ladies. This will keep you from making mistakes and keep you looking amazing for your big day.
The first mistake some brides make is not having a professional do their makeup.Ladies, think of having your makeup done as insurance that your photos will turn out awesome.(Personally I think any item of clothing over $1000 deserves pro makeup.)
I never understand why a bride would pay an unimaginable amount for a photographer and hairstylist and have a visible zit or under eye circle ruin all her photos.
I want to tell you a little story to prove my point.I had a bride who got married at a popular venue and there was a bride already having her reception when we arrived.I went with the bride to the ladies room so she could look at her hair and makeup in a large mirror. As, we went in, so did the other bride and her bridesmaids. She was a beautiful girl and her dress was amazing, but it was obvious she didn’t have her makeup or hair professionally done. All of her bridesmaids immediately started ooohing and ahhhhing over my bride and almost forgot that the other bride was waiting for them to help her go to the bathroom (this is something to think about if you have a princess dress). After they left, my bride said to me, “I am so glad you were here to make me look so polished, I do NOT want to look like that at the end of the evening”.She later sent me photos and she looked fabulous from start to finish.
Ok, so now that you are definitely going to have your makeup professionally done, right? Here are some other things to consider.
Using the wrong type of products is a no no.Unless you are going for the Courtney Love look on the cover of Hole’s first album (look it up, it’s scary), I would strongly suggest wearing waterproof eye makeup. Also, mineral makeup is great for everyday but it can look a little like a disco ball once the flash goes off on a camera.
Testing out products first is a must to avoid allergic reaction. That being said, ALWAYS have a trial run for makeup. You want to make sure you not only avoid reaction but that you and the makeup artist share the same vision (i.e. if your idea of natural is more Kate Hudson and your makeup artist is thinking Amy Winehouse).
More tips coming in part 2.

As women, we are always looking for great tricks to make us beautiful without spending lots of money. I have decided to share some of my beauty secrets that I live by with you.
For an instant pop to your glamorous “night-on-the-town” look, you can make you eye lids glitter with this simple trick. Take a cotton swab and spray generously with hairspray. Rub that over the lid or the area in which you would like sparkle. Then, using a new cotton swab, apply any type/color of glitter or shimmer powder to that area. You can use this over any eye shadow to make a dramatic look on your lids.
If you are like me and suffer from very dry legs after you shave, one step will dramatically help this problem. Instead of using regular soap or body wash to shave, use conditioner. This will leave your legs silky and hydrated so that dry, scaley skin will no longer be a problem.
Everyone wants fuller lips unless you have been blessed like Angelina Jolie, but use this technique and you will appear to have a plump pout without the painful shots. Outline the lips with a pencil that is the same shade as your lips. Then, on the center of the upper lip, use a brown pencil and draw a second line. Apply lip color and the brown will blend right in but your top lip will look fuller. Then, apply lip gloss right in the center of your mouth on both the bottom and top lips. Do this and they look instantly plump.
To soothe rough, dry feet all you need is a glass of water (half-way full), a pair of socks, and an intense hydrating lotion. Take the glass of water and the socks and microwave them anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute. Then, give yourself a mini foot massage with the lotion making sure that you concentrate on your really dry areas. Once finished, take warm socks out of the microwave and place them on your feet. The feeling is amazing! Leave those sock on overnight and the next morning when you wake up, your feet will feel wonderful.
Instead of buying all new lipsticks, layer your existing shades to create fun fall options. Combine brown and pink to make a sultry rose, red and purple for plum, and coral and red for fuchsia.
Tap lip gloss under your brows. Sounds crazy, but patting on a soft, shimmery pink gloss helps highlight and lift your eyes. Use a nonsticky formula (so your lashes don’t get stuck!), and blend in.
For a trick to warm your complexion, mix a pinch of metallic eye shadow into face lotion and apply.
When trying get your hair to hold a curl without falling flat, the first step is to have “second day hair”. Curling your hair works best when your strands are dirty. Also, don’t curl sections of hair that are too big. Wrapping a too-large piece of hair around the barrel will leave some of the hair unheated and, therefore, uncurled. Lastly, don’t forget to lightly mist hair with a medium-hold hairspray when you are done curling each section. (Redken Workforce 09 Flexible Volumizing Spray is the best one!)
Like hair clips, I am a little obsessed with shoe clips. They can turn any old pair of shoes into something fun and fashionable in a matter of minutes! Imagine with 20 clips you can have 20 different looks (and maybe you’ll get lucky and no one can tell the difference.
These clips range from $5-$25 on my favorite site Etsy and I beg you to check them out. If you are the type of girl who wants something original then this is for you. Not only can they be used at your wedding, but they can also be used for a night out on the town as well.
