Let’s Get it On!

Wednesday, December 16th, 2009
The dress, that is.

After I chilled out with my BFF and had something to eat, it was already time to get dressed. WHERE WAS THE TIME GOING? So fast, so fast. It all goes by so fast.

I was worried about getting into my dress as it was going to have to go on over my head. Compared to my hips, my waist is small, so there was no way I was going to be able to shimmy my ass into the dress by stepping in. Trust me, I’d tried several times at my fittings! However, I decided to give it a go anyway since I could not see how my little 5′2″ MOH was going to put the dress over my 5′10″ head without a comedy of errors ensuing.

My effort was proof positive that I’d lost weight that week. I was actually afraid as I’d put weight on the week before that! I think my nerves and all the craziness just melted a few pounds off. My dress was just a teeny bit big. This wasn’t an issue until later (the chicken cutlets were involved).

Here’s my MOH locking me in!

One of the detail shots that JCP got really surprised me. I was using a jewelry bag that my MOH gave me as a gift when I was her MOH. They had it hand-embroidered with my initials. How lovely, no?

Once I had my dress on and my dad showed up, we got the veil on and I was ready to go! I had already done my MOH’s make-up and fluffed her hair so were we all set!

I’d like it to be known that the look on my face at this very moment is one I am glad not to have on film. I think I was freaking out looking at myself in the mirror with the dress and veil and all. I know it sounds weird, but as long as I wasn’t looking at myself, I was doing A-OK in terms of my nerves. I started avoiding mirrors whenever possible.
I love that Pops is carrying my shrug!

“Goin’ to the chapel and we’re gonna get ma-aa-aa-aried.”

My Man’s Band

So, its almost that time to pick “the PERFECT” ring for my man…We have decided to go with Tungsten b/c of its durability and shine, and through Superior Weddings – there is a lifetime warranty which obviously helps give piece of mind. The light weight ring is also good for my FH since he’s not really a jewelry type of man… and these are some of my fave choices

So which one do you like best? Have you picked out your “perfect wedding band”?  What type of metal did you get? What style? Did you get to have a lot of input on what HE wanted?

7 Spray Tan Tips By: Kelly Summers

Friday, November 27th, 2009

ForeverSunnieWhen getting a Spray Tan – there are many things we can do to improve the way that the self-tanner adheres to the skin, or even improve how long the tan lasts! Here are some tips that will help first time tanners get an even tan that will withstand.

First, before the Tanning appointment it is important to exfoliate the skin. This means, that a light scrub should be used all over the body that has texture within the wash. The most common ingredients that create these textures are salt, sugar and sand. When using the exfoliant, scrub lightly to remove dead skin. The fresh skin layer that is left will create an even glow that lasts.

Take off any jewelry or white clothing that could leave visible tan lines. Be sure to remove all jewelry before entering the Tanning booth. Although the Tanning solution will not harm jewelry, it could leave unsightly marks on the person Tanning. Better safe than streaky!

Directly after the tan it is important to remove any excess solution from the bottom of the feet, or the palms of the hands. Wet wipes are provided at most Tanning salons that are enabled with Spray Tans. Use these on the tops of the feet, as well as the tops of the hands as well, to ensure that no spots are evident. Be quick, the solution dries fast, and the last thing that tanner’s want is evidence of their faux glow!

After Tanning, it is important to wait for to six hours to have a shower. Showering before this time is up could lead to the tan being washed from the skin. Did you know that lotions and oils can decrease the effect, as they block the skin? Refrain from lotions containing high levels of oils before Spray Tanning, for the best glow.

Want a darker tan? Darker tans are the result of the solution being exposed to the skin for a longer period of time. For this reason, the excess moisture should be allowed to dry on the skin, rather than being toweled off. While it is drying, use the provided wipes to clean any areas which you do not want the excess tan.

While maintaining the tan it is important to refrain from long showers or long hot baths. You see, these practices cause the skin to exfoliate. With Spray Tans, the top layer of the skin maintains the color, hence the temporary effect. When long showers or hot baths are taken, than the skin will regenerate itself, causing the Spray Tan to fade. Not only water, but soaps can also cause the tan to fade – be sure to use mild soaps, with warm water and no exfoliant to ensure a lasting glow.

Using these tips, a Spray Tan should last at least five days – just long enough for your important event or date. Be sure to tan the day before the event, ensuring enough time for the skin to adjust, and to be able to shower again.

You can’t make everyone happy

Friday, November 27th, 2009

This is something I learned at an early age. Everyone is always going to want things their way. And frankly, it’s impossible to please everyone, but when it comes to your (my) wedding should I cave? This is something I am dealing with right now. There are so many issues where some believe it should go one way, while I want it another. And it would be fine if the source of the tension were money–but it’s not, just plain ‘ole stubbornness. And that ain’t cool! :)

So here I am again, back to the never ending drawing board. Torn between, what I want and what should be done to please everyone else. I wish this were just a chicken or fish issue. But it’s color, dress, time of day, theme, style. Basically my whole concept is being thrown out the window and its a little annoying.

So I’m taking one issue at a time. Starting with the date/time of day. I know our wedding is on a Sunday. I am aware that it will be inconvenient to some, but I like the date. If I can’t have that date, then I will push it back to 1-1-11. And trust me, I’ll do it. I would wait to 11-11-11. But that’s just too far away. At least Jan 1 ‘11 is a Saturday, but it’s New Year’s Day. I may have plans then you never know!

So while I am thinking my Fall wedding may now be a Winter Wonderland, I now have other stylistic issues I must address in the process. It’s so crazy that I have to deal with this now. I’ll keep you updated on this travesty.

It really is Black Friday indeed.
