Here Comes The Bride…

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Basketball season is just a few months away, but the only thing that comes to most of our minds when we think of the Lakers right now is Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian’s wedding this weekend! To most people, this seemed like a shotgun wedding, but what do they know right? Maybe they really are in love and it didn’t need to take them years of dating to figure it out. Even then, if it doesn’t work out, that’s a whole other blog. This one is about THE wedding. Official pictures haven’t come out yet of this lovely quickie wedding of this union of basketball stardom and Kardashian sister, but we were able to snag a few that have surfaced the internet.

The bride was a lovely vision in white wearing a Vera Wang strapless gown paired with what seems to be a periwinkle colored sash cinching the waist of her newly fabulous reinvented self (as if she wasn’t already fabulous enough). How pretty does the youngest Kardashian sister look on her big day?!

Bridesmaids consisted of sisters Kourtney, Kim, Kylie, and Kendall as well as a few other friends, who seemed to be wearing dresses that matched the very same color of Khloe’s sash. The ladies were looking equally as stunning in their figure hugging, mermaid finish, floor length gowns.

Groom stood tall and handsome in a tuxedo and sleek black tie. Guests in attendance were of course the family, the regular cast of “Keeping Up with the Kardashians” and Lamar Odom’s fellow Lakers teammate, Kobe Bryant with wife, Vanessa Bryant alongside. Also in attendance was Lakers head coach Phil Jackson. It seemed like quite a star studdedhttp://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif wedding and everyone who came out to celebrate with the couple included Ryan Seacrest, Babyface (who also sang at the wedding), Kelly Osbourne, cheetah girl Adrienne Bailon, and many more.

I wonder where they are headed for their honeymoon?!

Wedding Engagement Annoucements

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

There are many ways to share with family, friends, and co-workers about the wedding engagement announcement, but who should couples share information with first? Normally, the couples share the news with the bride’s parents and then the grooms parents, but where can the bride and groom make their wedding announcement? Typically, the couples do not make the wedding announcements, however, the bride’s parents should contact the groom’s parents to create The Wedding Engagement Announcement and then submit the wedding announcement in the newspaper, online newspaper, or submit free wedding announcements on www.theweddingdiaryonline.com.

The information needed for the wedding announcement submission:
•Photograph of the Bride and Groom (Make sure you get extra copies from your photographer)
•Bride and Groom Full Name and Location
•Bride and Groom Parents Name and Location
•Bride and Groom Occupations
•Name of the Bride and Groom Parents Occupations
•Name of the Bride and Groom Grandparents (optional)
•Wedding Date
•Name of the City Where the Couple will reside (optional)

After the couples have the information for the Wedding Announcement Submission, the Wedding Announcement Wording is the next step in the process. Usually, the basic content would be as follows:

Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Smith of Charlotte, Michigan announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Cherise Smith to Mr. Joel Lambarti, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Lambarti of Charlotte, Michigan. The wedding date is planned for May 2010 in Charlotte, Michigan at Bennett Park.

Miss Smith was a graduate from Michigan State University and is an marketing assistant for LED communications in Lansing, Michigan. Mr. Joel Lambarti was a graduate from Olivet College and is a manager and is working for SEO Solutions in Grand Ledge, Michigan.

Let Them Eat Cake…from Publix?

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009
This past Saturday, my mother and I ventured over to the grand opening of our neighborhood Publix. I have known for awhile now that they do wedding cakes and have even seen/heard several brides talk about them. I had kind of brushed it aside assuming that a grocery store’s cakes could never compare to a baker’s wedding cake, especially if they specialize in that style. But, I think I might have been wrong. [yes, I am capable of admitting that.]

While at the grand opening {which we attended at lunch time}, we got many a sample. The first one we got was from the bakery. Now, I love raspberries…a lot. They taste very good when paired with a vanilla or creme cake. At Publix, I got to try a piece of their Raspberry Decadence cake. I think I died a little when I put it into my mouth. The cake was soft and moist; the icing was smooth and did not taste like crunchy sugar; and the raspberry filling added that little something extra that all cakes need.

I didn’t even need a second bite to know that I was absolutely sold on this cake. Not only did I enjoy eating this cake, but it met all the criteria that my FI and I had agreed upon back in May when we first got engaged. [oh, yes. we knew from the start that we wanted raspberry filling and a vanilla or lemon cake!] Well, on Sunday, I finally approached the topic with him. I basically told him that I had found our wedding cake and at a, hopefully, decent rate. I showed him all the styles we could choose from, and, almost immediately, we both picked the same one.

We’re not fans of square cakes, but I think that even if all the layers were round cakes, it would still look pretty elegant and classy. And, if we have a Friday wedding, which is what we’re planning for now, then it’ll look really nice in the hall with the white textured walls and the amber colored ceiling wood beams.
Have your heard anything about Publix cakes?
What are your experiences with them?
Does anyone have any pricing information?
[as a note:: this is not a sponsored/compensated post. no money/product was given in exchange for advertisement.]

Seating/Table Arrangement

Tuesday, December 22nd, 2009

Boy, Girl, Boy, Girl

When it comes to seating this is one thing that I am really not sure how to do. It would be one of the only reasons I hire a wedding coordinator, just so they (or their staff) can handle the seating. It’s not that my family and my FH’s family don’t get along (they’ve only met once), but I know how some family members can be (on both sides) so I am a little insecure (or even scared) that if certain people are put together they may not enjoy the wedding as much.

The two dilemmas I have are table design (arrangement) and the actual seating. I could always just let people choose where they want to sit, but I am even going there. I’ve never been a fan of that. My ultimate goal when hosting my reception is to make all of my guest feel at home. A lot of times I’ve been to weddings where I felt obligated to be there or I didn’t know anyone. So to me the place cards and assigned seating is not only a great way to introduce both sides of the family and friends but for those who are shy or not too good with names, it helps them–like an icebreaker.

I have some tips that saw while watching Style Network (quick tips) that I think can apply to a wedding reception:

  • Try to seat those who may not be as familiar with the vast majority of guest near your table or with others with similar likes/personalities.
  • Table design. Round tables encourage conversation, as rectangle tables do not (Not sure about this one).
  • Try to make your guest feel like you invited them to the party at your home, or some place where they can feel comfortable.

(for more go to Style Network)

There are so many options when it comes to table arrangements it’s almost endless. Personally I am fond of a mixture of long and round tables. For people who know each other a little better they can sit at the round tables, while those who aren’t as familiar with one another can sit at the long tables.
